Dr. Holdsworth researches and teaches in Ancient and Late Antique philosophy, specifically the thought of St. Augustine of Hippo. Her research focuses on the way Augustine receives and reworks Stoic and Plotinian thought, especially in his philosophical psychology. She teaches core classes and philosophy electives; in her teaching she works on improving students’ abilities to read and understand texts independently. She is the current philosophy club advisor and enjoys getting students together for lively discussion of topics that interest them.
