Navigating your remaining balance
After your financial aid award is applied, you may still have a remaining balance owed to UST.
To make it easier, you have the option to set up an interest-free monthly payment plan which allows you to pay off your balance over several months instead of paying it all at once.
Changes in your academic standing may affect your tuition. If this occurs, please contact us so your payment plan can be adjusted.
Payment Deadlines
Payment or payment arrangements must be made with the Bursar’s Office no later than one week before the class starts. The below deadlines are only for Regular Session undergraduate courses. Other programs, sessions, or courses may start early and have an earlier due date. Please check the academic calendar for your start date.
- Summer I 2026: 05.11.26
- Summer II 2026: 06.17.26
- Fall 2026: 08.10.26
- Spring 2027: 01.04.27
Late Fees
If you miss a deadline, you may be charged a late payment fee and/or have your registration canceled.
Tiered Late Payment Fees Per Term:

$500 – $1,999.99 = $200
$2,000 – $4,999.99 = $500

Requirements
In order to set up a payment plan, you must:
- Be registered for the term and have an outstanding semester balance
- Set up your payment plan before the start of each term you want it to be in effect
Acceptable forms of payment:
- Debit / Credit card (Amex, Discover, MasterCard or VISA)*
- E-check
A $50 non-refundable fee is charged for each contract.
Failure to honor payment plan obligations may result in the administrative withdrawal from the University and you’ll be prohibited from utilizing a payment plan in subsequent semesters.
* Up to a 3% convenience fee applies if paying by card
Set Up the Plan
If you’re a new student, you need to activate your account with Nelnet. If you’re a returning student, it’s already activated.
STEP 1:
Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled.
STEP 2:
Place your mouse over the Login button in the upper right area of the UST website, then click MYSTTHOM to log in to your student account.
STEP 3:
Click the button below for instructions on navigating to the right location for setting up a payment plan.
Authorize Your Parents
There are 2 types of authorizations you need to complete:
1. E-Bills:
The University doesn’t mail invoices/statements. Instead, e-bills are sent to your myStThom webmail address. By authorizing your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to receive these e-bills as well, they’ll be aware of payment due dates and can make sure bills are paid on time. Providing this authorization may also prevent you from having loans canceled. Once in your Nelnet account, get started by clicking the “Add an Authorized Party” button.
2. Consent to release information:
By law, your information can’t be released to anyone without your written authorization. So you’ll need to authorize UST to release information to your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if you so choose. Submit a FERPA release form to the Registrar’s Office.
Make Payment Online
Domestic students:
- Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled.

- Better exchange rate
- 24/7 customer service
- No hidden bank fees or additional charges
Manage Refunds
If you’re owed a refund from the University, you’ll receive it faster if you have direct deposit.
STEP 1:

Company Deferment
If your employer offers tuition reimbursement, UST allows you to defer payment of your portion for up to 45 days after grades post in that semester. To qualify, you’ll need to submit a letter on company letterhead:
- Signed by HR or your immediate supervisor stating you’re eligible
- Stating the percentage of your tuition that will be paid by your company
- Listing any conditions or requirements (such as grades) for the reimbursement
You’ll also need to sign a company deferment promissory note and pay a $75 company deferment fee so payment arrangements can be finalized by UST. Deadline is the week before classes start.
You may scan and email documents to businessoffice@stthom.edu.

Accounts Payable Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for an invoice or request to be paid?
While we strive to pay invoices as quickly as possible, please note our terms are Net 30. We print checks once a week. We also recommend that vendors deposit or cash their checks before the 60 day expiration date arrives. Once the check has expired we will cancel the transaction in our system.
I'm a new vendor. What other documents are required to ensure timely payment of my invoice?
If you are a new vendor, please submit a current W9 to ap@stthom.edu so that we can add you as a vendor in our system as soon as possible.

No. Vendors will receive payments by mail. Please notify us at ap@stthom.edu of any changes in address, or clearly denote any changes in remit to addresses on the invoice.
If I'm a new employee providing a service for the university, how do I get paid?
Please verify with your supervisor and Human Resources on whether a Personnel Action Form is needed. If a PAF is necessary, you will be paid through Payroll. If the service provided is not in any way related to your department operations, a coded and approved Check Request Form may be submitted.

No. Our sales tax exemption forms are available to employees and students on their MyStThom portal.
