Dr. Brian T. Carl is Associate Professor of Philosophy in the Center for Thomistic Studies. He has been at the University of St. Thomas since 2019, having previously taught at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception. In Fall 2025, he held the Aquinas Chair, a visiting endowed chair at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.

He specializes in medieval metaphysics and philosophical theology, especially that of St. Thomas Aquinas, with interests in medieval cognitive theory, logic, and action theory. He currently serves as a Policy Advisor for the Office of the President. He has previously served as Director of the Center for Thomistic Studies, as Chair of the Philosophy Department, and as Secretary of the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
