Mary Flagg Ph. D. has a background in chemical engineering but found her true passion in the beauty of theoretical mathematics. Her Ph.D. dissertation was in abstract algebra, and her current interests are at the crossroads of linear algebra and graph theory. She is an active member of the International Linear Algebra Society. Mary is one of the founding organizers of the American Institute of Mathematics Virtual Research Community on the Inverse Eigenvalue of a Graph and Zero Forcing.

As a member of the community, she has had the opportunity to work virtually with international collaborators. Her 2023 National Science Foundation PRIMES PAIR grant allowed her to work virtually with a small group including experts from Taiwan and the Netherlands. She brings this excitement and passion for math into the classroom and has worked with dozens of undergraduate research projects.
