Explore Church Teaching on the Beauty of Womanhood
About the Program
Truth in the Dignity of the Human Person
The University of St. Thomas in Houston is leading the conversation on the profound wellspring of wisdom that the Catholic Church offers with regard to gender and sexuality. The Nesti Center for Faith and Culture’s Catholic Women’s & Gender Studies Program is focused on teaching students the fullness of Catholic truth about human and personal identity. Like the Nesti CFC’s flagship program, the Master of Arts in Faith & Culture (MAFC), the Catholic Women’s and Gender Studies Program seeks to provide education and formation to help people understand the relationship between the Church’s universal call to love and the values of the dominant American culture, reminding students of the innate dignity of men and women.

Understand the Feminine Genius
Explore the foundations of human identity, sexuality, and gender through both philosophical and historical perspectives. Catholic Women’s and Gender Studies courses examine the nature of the human person as body and soul, the meaning of sex and gender, Catholic thought and feminism, scientific and social science evidence of gender, medical ethics and women’s healthcare, and the intellectual traditions that have shaped contemporary conversations about gender and human flourishing. Students engage with major philosophical, theological, and cultural developments. From classical and Christian understandings of the person to modern debates surrounding sexuality, feminism, and the sexual revolution, students gain a deeper understanding of some of the most significant questions facing society today about the human person.
