About the Program

Build the Systems That Power the Future

Develop the knowledge and problem-solving skills to design, test and improve electrical and electronic systems.

UST’s Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering combines engineering, physics and mathematics with specialized study in circuits, electronics, microprocessors, signal processing, power systems and wireless communications. Through progressive coursework and electives, students can shape their studies around their interests and career goals.

The 120-credit-hour program includes UST’s Core Curriculum and required major coursework. 

What will you study?

Explore Modern Electrical Engineering Systems

Coursework covers electrical circuits and electronics, digital design and microprocessors, signal processing, electrical machines and power systems, wireless communications, electromagnetism, computational methods, and engineering design and communication.

The program culminates in a team-based capstone project, where students apply analytical, experimental, and computational methods to move an engineering project from concept and design through testing and completion.

Student Experience

Turn Engineering Theory into Practical Experience

Learn through laboratory work, collaborative design projects, research and career-focused opportunities.

Electrical engineering students learn in classrooms and laboratories where they can apply mathematical and scientific concepts to real engineering challenges. Coursework incorporates design, experimentation, computation and team-based problem-solving.

UST also joined the CIC Texas Work-Based Learning Consortium in 2026. The initiative is designed to expand access to internships, co-ops, employer connections, and real-world projects across participating academic programs.

Engineering Success Center

Robertson Science Hall includes dedicated engineering laboratories, an engineering computer lab, an advanced lab and an engineering shop. Students also have access to academic support through the Engineering Success Center.
