Rising Star Graduate at UST Commencement

University of St. Thomas recently held a joyful end-of-year celebration honoring the third – and largest – graduating class of the UST Rising Stars Internship Program. Forty-three students received their Rising Stars graduation stoles, marking a major milestone in their academic and professional journeys.

“This year marks a historic milestone for the Rising Stars program as we proudly celebrate our largest graduating class to date – 43 incredible students, with more who are continuing their journey at UST in graduate studies,” said Daniel Garcia '01, '09, UST Rising Stars Director. “Each of these students not only balanced rigorous academics and meaningful internships but also achieved an average GPA above 3.0.”

Since launching the Rising Stars Program in 2019 with just five students, the program has grown to serve 240 talented, driven scholars to achieve excellence in the classroom and in high-stakes corporate internships.

“Their success is a testament to their resilience, determination, and the unwavering support of the Rising Stars team,” Garcia said. “We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished and the bright futures they are building.”

The Rising Stars Program is an integral part of the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan for Educating Students for Purpose, which rooted in the University's mission and strategic plan. It seeks to enhance student learning and success by connecting faith, reason, and real-world issues. Through these efforts, the University aims to cultivate a vibrant Catholic culture and prepare students to lead ethically and contribute to the common good, which Rising Stars students accomplish through the very fabric of the program.
